To start off i must say I only tried oysters for the first time about 5 months ago. A girlfriend of mine asked me to meet here here for a GNO. I was excited because now in love with oysters! We got here and the staff was very friendly. I brought my 2 nieces with me and the waitress was outstanding. She was a pleasure to talk to. It wasnt just generic hi my name is annie and im your server today. She was completely involved. We had some great discussions and she was very informative about the menu. She also made great suggestions. My niece got the cheeseburger and the other got the chicken tacos(they were amazing! Very full of flavor, made us lick our fingers). My friend and i both got the house special oysters. Wow!! I couldnt believe what a deal it was for a wholed dozen oysters. One of mine came without an oyster and the manager came out and gave me a half dozen more! I wouldve never expected that. The food, staff, and establishment was great! Clean and great for families or GNO they have a separated bar and seating area which is really nice.

Great Service, Excellent Oysters, OK food. We were disappointed in our crab cake (very "mealy", due to far too much breading) and our oysters Rockefeller (again, too much breading. Can't rave enough about our server (Jenny?) and their fresh local oysters! Also they are dog-friendly which was great as well!

Probably one of the few who's not that impressed with pearlz. (The service was great). First off I didn't find the menu at all interesting. We ordered 2 fish stick kids meals. They were average, decent, typical acceptable price. My husband got the first cheeseburger on the menu. He liked it. He didn't like the chips, said they were over rated. As a matter of fact no one but me could tolerate the chips. I had the tacos. One shrimp, one mahi. The shrimp taco was heavy, the shrimp had a strange flavor. The mahi taco was better- still not light and fresh like I would expect or wanted and had the tiniest sliver of mahi that I've possibly ever seen..and both were packed w what I'd call, imo, an undesirable slaw. At this point I still prefer triangle bar across the street. We'll give it another try eventually. One other thing, it wasn't happy hour but I feel since it was lunch time they should have better lunch specials on a regular basis. They had "specials" but the prices were def NOT special. Just Wasn't feeling it.

Pretty average place. Food is good, but not to die for, service is good, but not over the top.

GET THE SWORDFISH, GET THE SWORDFISH, GET THE SWORDFISH. Holy amazing. I am a seafood fanatic, and this swordfish was outstanding. I had a specialty alcoholic beverage that didn't really stand out but it was fine, and we also indulged in 2 dozen raw oysters. They were great as well. This is definitely on my list every time I stop in to Charleston!

Solid happy hour menu. We tried a little bit of everything... fried oysters (perfect, not slimy at all and excellent blue cheese that went with it!), steamed oysters (this was a first for me... I couldn't quite mentally tackle the raw oyster, but I'm a fan of the steamed ones and the sauces again were great!). We also tried the Mahi-Mahi tacos (which have a good sized piece of mahi, but a little more creme or pico would have gone a long way... just a tad dry in my opinion), we tried asking for a side of wasabi creme as per some one of the yelp tips, but the bartender said, "it doesn't come with that..." so ummm, okay then. That was a little awkward. We also got an order of the house chips, they have a good spice (but I would not describe them as spicy) and come with a chunky blue cheese. I would order all of the above things again. The reason I wouldn't go 5 stars here is two fold. While I liked the environment, I like the little bit retro feel, I did notice a squished cockroach in the bathroom (and we got there at 4, so we were some of the first in the door, which makes me wonder if it was an employee, why not clean it up... bleh) Things that make me question cleanliness always kind of taint the experience for me (sorry if that sounds snobby... but it does make me wonder about the rest of the place, just saying). The other part of lacking a star was the service, it was just okay. The one bartender for the whole (very packed) bar seemed frazzled, annoyed, and rushed... It might be in Pearlz best interest to add another bartender (I'm hardly blaming the bartender, she had a ton of people to take care of and it was just her). I know when I go out, I want to chill, relax, enjoy the time and a frazzled-rushed bartender who is spread too thin doesn't exactly help that vibe. The one other thing holding me back is the drinks... I tried two of the cocktail menu drinks and ehhhh.... just okay. I tried Sunset Beach and Fancy Sweet (which I ended up giving to the husband). I wasn't blown away by either, which was a little disappointing since I generally really enjoy drinks that have elderflower liquor in them, or fruity drinks. It sounds like a lot of negatives, but I post them because I think Pearlz can improve on those things and it would be straight up awesome. I will be back for oysters and encourage you that it is worth checking out for the happy hour food at the very least...

Actually tried to go to the downtown location but ended up here as my husband and I were driving back from Magnolia Plantation. We did the lobster bisque, dozen oysters (half raw and half steamed) and the mixed grill (salmon, tuna, mahi, . Bisque tasted more like leeks than lobster as it lacked any chunks of the shellfish. Oysters were the best part of the meal as they were large and high quality. The mixed grill had highs and lows with some of the fish overcooked, but I actually really enjoyed the mashed potatoes underneath. Overall, it seemed like a pretty decent chain restaurant in the region, but I'd prefer to try it during Happy Hour when it's more of a deal, or downtown when there's live music.

Had a dozen oysters, let the bartenders pick for me, and I was absolutely satisfied. Then my shrimp & grits (cheddar jalapeño grits) came and that was even better! And to make it better bartender Rob gave me some great recommendations of places to go on my 1 day off in Charleston! If I could give 6 stars I would.

On February 7, 2015 at approximately 2300 hours Tom H. and I, Dante G., responded to Pearlz located at 9 Magnolia Road in reference to desert. We were accompanied by Confidential Source KY. I chose a seat at a table along the center of the interior support wall. It placed us between the six sorority girls celebrating a birthday and the five guys celebrating a mid life crisis. Having already sampled several adult beverages with their roots in Egypt, I chose one I had not seen before. Almaza, brewed in Lebanon. Interesting that an Islamic nation would produce an alcoholic beer. Tom H. went with a Two Hearted Ale. Yup, more pine straw and cat urine. Beer snob for "well balanced and on the know end scale". We also consumed desert. CS KY ate the Oreo Cheese Cake. She described it as 'orgasmic'. Deserts come from Kaminski's. Not Kamila's. Kaminski's. Note: If they sold the icing from the top by the pipe, The Château Experience would by it all. Just a suggestion. I went with the Blondie. Exact opposite of how I like my women. It was dry and covered in cinnamon ice cream. End of Report.

Stopped in for happy hour - nice atmosphere and good happy hour prices. Had a house wine that tasted good. Also had a dozen oysters - Chesapeake Bay - tasted good. Initial service little slow, so 4 stars instead of 5.

Pearls was the last dinner spot of our minimoon. The environment had a comfortable and welcoming feel. We ordered the oysters rockefeller and wedge salad for starters to share. As the starters arrived they split the salad for us which was a nice touch and surprise. For the main course we ordered the monk fish with mushroom risotto and fish & chips. Both were great! Above all the service was impeccable. The staff worked as a real team and really seemed to enjoyed being there and it showed though the service. Next time we are in Charleston Pearlz will be a place that we will defiantly be making a return visit!

12 bucks for All You Can Eat Oysters - shuck em yourself. Fun place to be on a Sunday afternoon. They offer a good variety of beers and other foods too. Full bar and the bartenders are friendly and sport respectable beards. The oysters were delicious. A few were bad, but that's what you get at an oyster roast. Just toss em and move to the next. Fun and great for groups!

One of my favorite restaurants. Love the other homegrown hospitality restaurants as well(TBonz & Grill · Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery · Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse · Pearlz Oyster Bar · Liberty Tap Room and Kaminskys) This pearlz location is nice because it is not as busy as the downtown location but still has a great atmosphere. Sit at the bar and you are able to watch as your oysters are shucked! Many different varieties of oysters! Must order an oyster shooter

Pearlz is a great example of what a "local" slash "chain" restaurant should be. Now I know it's not technically a chain, since they only have one other location downtown - but it's owned by the same restaurant group that also runs T-Bonz, LIberty, and several others you might or might not be familiar with. In light of all that, you will never go to Pearlz and feel like it's a typical chain restaurant. Step aside, TGI Fridays. Pearlz has a great assortment of fresh catch items that change daily, which I really like. At this particular location, I am always amazed with the quantity and quality of food that comes out of a seemingly small kitchen. In fact, I'm pretty sure my kitchen at home is bigger than theirs. Size matters, am I right, ladies? Heyooo! Anyway, the food is always good & fresh, the drinks are always cold, and I have never been disappointed with a Pearlz experience. This is one of the places I confidently and consistently send people who are new to town. In addition to the food, they have their own set of brews that are all pretty tasty and relatively cheap @ around $3 for a pint. I am partial to the nut brown ale as it's not too heavy and has a really nice flavor to it. All other drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders make a mean dirty martini - always requested in a rocks glass of course, I'm not that fancy. The food and drinks at Pearlz are great, but it's the happy hour situation is what keeps bringing me back. $3 well liquor, $2.50 house brews, $8.95 for a dozen oysters, and $5 for two TASTY TASTY mahi tacos! They also have monstrous peel and eat shrimp and several other options for purchase. Sure, there are probably better happy hour deals in town but not for this type of quality fare. Plus, your friends will always come meet up with you if you tell them you're going to Pearlz for happy hour. I guess it's a popular joint. Last Friday I started off eating tacos and drinking bourbon at the end of the bar by myself and within an hour I had convinced 11 friends join me. That's some serious drawing power. PROTIP: Ask for a side of wasabi creme with your mahi tacos. It changes the game. You're welcome.

Had a great dinner tonight! 2 kids and 2 adults. Sarah was our waitress and was fantastic. We started with the dozen oysters and mussels, which were so delish that we had to have a double order. Then onto the crab cakes and seafood tower salad - both Yum! Kids meal was fried fish. Again was fresh but I wouldn't come here for the fried items. Overall Fresh, tasty and just really good food. Would definitely be back if back in the area.

Best place is West Ashley for happy hour! Food is delicious and oysters are very fresh. Free valet Parking and only a few minutes from Play Garden (hourly kids play location that is a must) make this a perfect location for a parents date night!

Enjoyed happy hour at Pearlz tonight. Had the southern fried oysters, mahi tacos, and corn fritters! I had $5 cocktail and my husband enjoyed the $2.50 beer! We did not do dinner here but it seems like the kind of place to just stick to happy hour and not dinner. The atmosphere was ok but not my favorite so far in Charleston.

Hands down my favorite place in Charleston. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious & the scene is perfect. Highly recommend! I've never had a bad meal or poor service. Their oysters are the freshest and I swear some are as big as chicken breasts!

Great weekend in Charleston. Had dinner on Friday. It was so good we went back on Sunday. Had the raw oysters and the New England Clam Chowder on Friday. The oysters were so fresh. Cocktail sauce was perfect. If you love clam chowder, you must try Pearlz'!!. On Sunday, had the Calmari and the fried shrimp. Both were some of the best I have ever had, and that's saying a lot. Pearl is just a great spot for fresh seafood!!

Well the wait was ok but not when I saw a couple get seated before us that had walked after us. We gave our drink orders and it took an excessively long time for them arrive, waitress gave lame excuse of having to answer questions? We got our app calamari, but didn't get the oyster shooter. Dinner came and it wasn't anything to brag about. Plus there was a drip from the pipe above us, that is we hadn't noticed could've dripped in our food. The waitress didn't seem enthusiastic about working either.

Now I know what the hype is about. Had happy hour at Pearlz and it was a blast. This branch doesn't have a line nor waiting time, we were seated right away and we got to pick where we wanted to sit. COOL!! Parking is sweet also, they have a huge lot at the back where you can park for free.I'm really happy that I came to this instead of the one in east bay. The gulf oyster and peel and eat shrimps are fresh and great tasting. Service is friendly and prompt. They now have live music at 7pm. Good deal! Stay for the oysters and drinks!!

This is one of my favorite places to visit. I love oysters and when the weather turns cold my craving for them skyrockets. They offer a variety of oysters and update the chalk board daily so you know what they currently have. The peel and eat shrimp serves as a great appetizer and be sure to get an oyster shooter. I recommend Pearlz to my friends and folks I meet from out of town. I usually sit at the bar and the bar tenders are really friendly and fun to chat with. Just a great restaurant. Stop in, have a drink, have a chat, and get yourself a dozen delicious oysters.

Has become my favorite Happy Hour ever!!! As soon as we get in there we order 2 oyster shooters, an order of oysters on 1/2 shell and an order of fried oysters. What a great way to end a tough work week! Great drinks! Great food! Great value!

This is our first time in this restaurant. My husband and I are pleasantly surprised by the nice environment and the quality of services and food. The server remembers everything you say and try their best to make you happy. The blackened salmon is cooked just right on top of grilled asparagus and Brussels sprouts. Awesome place!

Lynzi P.
The best happy hour, I loved the bartenders also! Very personable. Can't wait to go back!
I'm not really sure how good Pearlz is since I got takeout and wasn't able to live the full dining experience. I tried the Lobster roll with house chips and I got a cup of the N.E clam chowder. I must say the chowder and chips were pretty good but the lobster roll was just okay. The bun used was delicious and the lobster itself was very delicious but I felt it lacked seasoning and could have used some lemon to brighten it up.

Pearlz has become a regular landing spot during our visits to Charleston. Awesome service, great happy hour specials and the oysters, well shoot, they're outstanding! Can't wait to visit again!

Oh Pearlz. My dad loves this place and when he comes to town, we literally eat here three times a week. I've had just about everything on their regular menu and it is 99% delicious. There have been one or two misses, but hey - no one is perfect. Their house oysters are delicious and the past several times we've been there, were Chesapeake, not Gulf, oysters at a very fair price. My favorites are their gumbo, burger, or ahi tuna sandwich - all delicious. I haven't really tried any of the entree specials because I think they're a little pricey. I would give 5 stars if they had anything amazing and unexpected on their menu, but most of the stuff is pretty standard seafood grill fare. Still yummy. They have a FANTASTIC happy hour, so don't miss that either!

First time eating here. Sat at bar. Great lively scene, beyond excellent service and fantastic food. The bartenders and staff are poetry in motion! Fun place. Will definitely go back, and back!

Went here during the first tropical storm of the season last year. Great, friendly service. Corn fritters were amazing. Chips with blue cheese were, too. Mostly filled up on the happy hour oyster special! Good oyster shooters, too (including a unique one that tasted like chicken noodle soup?!). Parking's a bit tight in the back, though!

Went for Happy Hour while visiting Charleston and had a great time.. Can't beat the prices for happy hour or the friendliness by the bartenders. Oysters were fresh and amazing, so was the peel and eat shrimp.. Definitely sit at the bar and enjoy the show!

Great happy hour, although the service leaves a little something to be desired. I usually only come here to drink, and I've only gotten food here once. I'm not huge into oysters, so I got the mussels instead. Cooked with garlic, white wine sauce and fresh herbs, these little suckers are DELISH. I highly recommend them if you like shellfish.

We had steamed oysters, grilled swordfish, and mussels. It was all fantastic! Some of the attentive service I've had.

Went for dinner this time. I had the oyster Rockefeller. Good but my wife's tuna burger was fantastic. Tuna steak on bun. We skipped the bun. Good deal and nice piece of medium rare tuna. The steamed oysters were also very good. Great fast service as well.

Very decent. Oyster shooters are definitely worth trying. Great bar selection. We got fresh steamed oysters as an appetizer and split a local fresh catch (Wahoo). The fish was a little overcooked for my taste but the flavors were nice. Wait was too long so we sat at the bar. Service was very good. Parking is unfortunately horrendous. Luckily with my husband's amazing parallel parking skills we were able to squeeze in next to the bank.

I joined a friend here for happy hour on a Wednesday. It was simply divine. The food: Happy hour prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed a 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp ($8), a dozen oysters on the half shell ($9) and two mahi tacos ($6). The champagne was flowing (at $3 a glass), and the oyster shooters ($2.50 each) are an absolute must-try. Everything we had was delicious and the oysters were HUGE. The service: Our bartender, Shea, was funny, funky, and AWESOME. He totally made my first experience here a memorable one. He had a great balance of humor and friendliness, while still being attentive to our needs. The atmosphere: Love the area Pearlz is in. Inside we sat at a long bar, which I would recommend. It was fun to interact with the bartenders and watch the happenings. They also had live music, which set a very chill/cool vibe. I enjoyed the olderer-ish/business crowd. I will definitely be returning to Pearlz. Great prices, people, and place.

We sat at the bar near the oyster coolers so we got quite a bit of facetime with the shuckers. They were friendly, attentative, pretty dang good at popping them open, and as the night progressed I challenged them. I wanted a hamburger with an oyster (still raw) embedded in the middle of it. Any sign of being cooked and I'd storm out. They took the challenge, gave me a few play by play details and delivered the goods true to form. The burger was tall and each bite was terrific. When I finally hit my raw oyster, a sneaker wave slipped in, slapped me in face and dragged me down to the briney depths. Turn's out this flavor combo shouldn't be eaten but luckly I had more cows to pull me back to safety. Execution was great and a fun custom order. I'll be back !

Great local seafood spot. Even though it's part of a larger chain it's has a great neighborhood feel. The food is really good. The clam chowder is amazing. Oysters...some of the best selection around. The staff and manager are usually really friendly.

A great place to get oysters and drinks. The oysters were fresh, large and reasonably priced and the service was excellent.

I sat solo at the bar for dinner while I was in town for business. I had two of the daily special appetizers which were both great. Then the bartender, Kyle, struck up a conversation with me and we started talking about the oysters. Well, I ordered a cool dozen which were perfectly shucked and tasted fantastic.

We found this place on the way back to our hotel. What a great place. The oysters on the half are fresh and fabulous, and served on a bed of ice. Soooo yummy. I only had a dozen, but in retrospect I should have eaten two or three dozen. I had the shrimp and grits for dinner it was cooked to perfection with a sauce to die for. My wife had the steamed shrimp which were cooked perfect. She had it with champagne, and in her words it just doesn't get any better. The place is fun and friendly, and the service is great. I'm going back tomorrow.

Excellent meal. Started of with new orleans style bbq shrimp app. Full of flavor and the shrimp were local....heads and all. The lowcountry fish and chips were great. A light beer batter that was not overwhelming. The taco's ala carte were great to. The grilled mahi and crispy shrimp were spot on!!!! Service was excellent..... you shouldn't have to expect it, it should just happen!
(4)
John P.
Great service, large enough portions. My wife and i shared a large plate, while each getting an appetizer. Perfect meal. The mixed grill plate was fantastic! Service was attentive yet casual.
(5)
Anthony H.
The food was really good however, I had the mixed grill which was a combination of swordfish, salmon, wahoo, and mahi. It was all very well prepared and had a great flavor, but each piece was about the size of a chicken nugget, which was less than satisfying. I do recommend the restaurant, but order something other than the mixed grill.
(3)
Kris S.
Compliments for the saltines of the oysters on the half shell. Tasted like the Gulf from which they came. Fried oysters were not overcooked... Soft texture inside. Creamy almost. The only ding is for the special called farmers market chopped salad. The blueberries and other fruit was overripe mush and the salad greens were not chopped. Stick with oysters.

I had high hopes for Pearlz and I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blow away either. I'm not saying it was bad, just not something to write home about. My friend and I went on a Saturday night around 9 and had no problem getting a table. In fact, it was kind of empty. The bar seemed like the place to be, but we opted for a table. I do like this location and the upbeat vibe of the area. I had the crab cake sandwich, which was decent. It was a decent size and was plenty of crab for the price. The chips that came with the sandwich were AMAZING! They were hands down the best chips I've had. Most restaurants either char them or they come out looking like a greasy, floppy mess but these were cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. My friend had the tuna burger, which he liked. We also ordered oyster shooters, but they were not what I was expecting. The shooter seemed like 80% cocktail sauce and were not that good. Also, the oyster was rather small (yes, it has to fit in a shot glass but I felt like I paid $4 for cocktail sauce). Overall, I would recommend Pearlz for a low key night out. The food is well priced and the atmosphere is fun.
(4)

Their food is pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary. But for an oyster bar, I've had better oysters. It's a cool place to visit in Charlestown if you're ever there. But it's not a must visit spot.

Were in town for a few days and on the advice of our host came here for happy hour. It was wonderful. A dozen huge and tasty oysters cost 9.99. The fried shrimp was similarly priced and was excellent. The drink menu was also really good with a great selection of cocktails and draft beers. Great environment and service. If I have the opportunity, would definitely go back.

Excellent fresh oysters, the best that I have had in a while. The oysters were HUGE, and served to us raw, cocktail sauce was very spicy and good. Posted on the chalkboard, and menu are oysters available now, where they are from, and the price. The corn fritters were the best that I have ever had, anywhere! The buffalo fried oyster ap was kind of a beating, 5 fried oysters, ranging from large to very small in size, but tasted great. I think that this place is a great option for seafood in the area of Avondale. Excellent happy hour offerings, that really seems to be the time to go.

Pearlz is always a great 'go-to' when you want go to a nice place to have a beer or do some oyster shooters. The oysters are fresh, but they aren't local (just FYI if you are looking for local clusters) They have homemade chips for snacks and even their burgers are tasty if you're not feeling like eating seafood. The oyster shooters are a fun novelty.. I am still on the fence on whether I enjoy them. They used to make them with huge oysters and sometimes they would be hard to stomach, but since this fall I have noticed they have been putting smaller ones in there, hence making them easier to shoot. I am also SO glad they expanded recently. It is much more roomier and less noisy on a busy night. The bartenders are all very friendly and attentive, too!

I feel like I am copying my Voodoo experience but yet again I wished I haven't already eaten dinner when I walked in to Pearls. I did however partake in the oyster shooter, which I am still on the fence about. I am not a huge oyster aficionado but it wasn't bad. I guess if you like bloody Mary's and oysters this will be right up your alley. We didn't stay long just came for the oyster shooter really but the atmosphere was awesome and the service was top notch. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the single fact that I didn't eat or have much to judge. I am sure with a return trip 5 stars will be an easy achievement.

Gumbo was great! Mild in heat, and full of andouille and seafood. Inviting ambiance and very relaxed. They had a great selection of raw oysters both from South Carolina and up north. I had some locals and osprey points. Both were great! Also had the monkfish special. It was delicious! Perfect dish for winter. Monkfish medallions with wilted arugula, roasted root veg, and herb cream sauce. I just moved to the area and will definitely be back!

Excellent service, everyone from the host to our server (and every server that passed our table, I'll give credit to my 9 month old son for that) to the owner himself stopped to talk and ask how we were doing. They let us bring in a cookie cake for my Dad's birthday which was nice, the owner jokingly asked for a piece and we gave him one before we left. The food was pretty good, I got the crab cakes and they weren't phenomenal but good for a sandwich. I got a bloody mary and asked for it extra spicy, usually that means just a bit more spice but this didn't disappoint. Overall a great place for happy hour or a casual lunch or dinner.

Man... where to begin.. The venue this place is tucked in a cute little neighborhood lined with other bars and restaruants and a fantastic location. The inside of this place is cute.. reminds me of a old steakhouse/trendyrestaruant yet laidback.. make sense? LOL. Secondly, the Drink/Wine List. I had this AMAZING I AM TELLING YOU IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Its called Armenian Honey Wine. I had one glass and I was hooked.. TRY IT!! Lastly, the food. The food is impecable I had the Rainbow Trout pan seared with Lemon, and sat on a bed of redrice with sausage in it.. Kinda like a Jambalya type thing but I red that and was like ok Ill try it man that stuff was better than the fish and wouldve never thought of pairing those two together but thats why there the professionals. Service was amazing our waitress was top notch and even the maanger came by to chat with us to say hi and check on us.. thats how you do service. I will definetly be back. I highly recommend this place you wont be disspointed!

This place is awesome! Lets start with the food... I highly recommend the warm crab dip. It's warm, crabby, cheesy.. Totally delicious. The fried mushrooms are great also. They come with a horseradish dip that is soo good. If you want to guild the Lilly, you can dunk the mushrooms in the warmed crab dip.. What's great food without great beer.. They have an awesome beer selection. From PBR to Westbrook White Thai, to Holy City. You can find pretty much what you want. I also recommend trying their Oyster Shooter. I was terrified to try it, but once I did, I loved it! It's like the best Bloody Mary ever with a little surprise in a shot glass. Don't knock it, just do it! I recommend sitting at the bar and chatting it up with Shane and Rob. AKA "Cog".LOL. This was my first visit, but you can bet I will be back! Hope to see you there!

Four stars because I'm not so much of a fan of their service, BUT they have an awesome happy hour menu! Also, I know it might be hard to believe, but Pearlz has a delicious burger. I highly recommend it.

The service was excellent (we sat at the bar) and the food was delicious. I had a tuna taco and it was very fresh with a great char-grilled flavor. Steamed oysters were tasty and the oyster shooter was the best one I've had on this trip. Highly recommend the seafood cobb salad.

$8.95 for a dozen oysters here. bar tenders were not very knowleadgable but these were the BEST oyster shots I've had to date. entrees were in the $20 range, which I thought was a little more than they were worth. nonetheless, the food was good and I have nothing to complain about. $100 for dinner and drinks for two. I would come back to eat here if just for the oyster shots.

Small space, but patio is a great place in warm weather. Always order from the daily specials.....the chef gets creative and I've always had good luck with the specials! Had pumpkin dumplings with a grouper dish that was incredible!

Yeah, I don't know there is something charming about this West Ashley spot. I often find myself suggesting Pearlz for dinner on Friday nights. It's fun to go and hang out at the bar while waiting for a table (a 20 minute wait is inevitable). It's a very small restaurant (not great for intimate evenings just small) so the bar area is usually packed but the service is great. Ive never had to wait long for a beer. The food is ok. Nothing to really brag about. I always get the fish and chips. I just really like the batter they use, nice and fluffy and not really seasoned. 3 stars for the good atmosphere, service and price.

The bottled beer was delicious. Everything else tasted like old fish. My fiance had her meal comped because she had two bites and put down the fork. I had an idiot proof meal at an oyster bar ... fried oysters. They weren't terrible, but there were really not enough on the plate to form an opinion. The broccoli cole slaw, and the "house-made chips" had no flavor whatsoever; just an essence of old fish. You'll smell what I'm talking about as soon as you walk in the door. All this and pricey too. On a positive note, the lackluster food was presented beautifully, square plates and all ... pig lipstick.

Great food & excellent service. My only negative is the parking situation. As in there is none! Park in the bank next door if you go after six.

The oyster selection is great and while the menu is small it is good, Let's be honest good seafood and a good raw bar aren't hard to find in Charleston what sets this place apart are the staff. The remember the details they are friendly and fast. I have had one bad experience of ten visits and shit happens ya know. Very cool spot.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, we won't be back for dinner. My very first idea of Pearlz was second-hand when a friend got horribly sick from an oyster shooter served to him at the East Bay location, but I recently got a $10 off coupon and I headed back with hopes of disproving this initially bad impression. This time, I went to the West Ashley location and tried the fried brie on baby greens--which made the meal passable in so far as fried cheese is never bad--and my date and I split a total of three appetizers (including the brie). I got the feeling everything, including that brie, was a frozen-and-fried bulk purchase from Costco or some restaurant supply warehouse, and the interior smelled like bad fish--which is exactly why none was ordered. I was half-way finished eating before my wine was finally served, and while we sat in the house's nicest section, the porch area over-looking Triangle Bar, that just made me long to have chosen the latter for dinner.

Super cute little bar. Can get loud and crowded during Happy Hour, with very little seating room. Food is ok, nothing spectacular.

1 Star for Service or lack thereof..I've been coming to Pearlz for years. I bring my oyster loving family from out of town and frequent Pearlz when I get the craving for delicious Blue Points. The oysters are bar none the best selection in town, 5 stars for the oysters. It pains me to give a one star but thats exactly the service that I experienced there last night. The server we had was the only reason for the one star review. My partner and I planned a special evening starting with our favorite raw oysters at Pealz. We came early knowing that the bar gets a bit loud, so we were immediately greeted and then sat at one of the long tables in the middle. I found it odd that the server did not make eye contact with me or even direct any questions at me, maybe when she brings the drink, nope great eye contact with my partner but not a word to me. It was made quite apparantly she is a bad server when explaining the different oysters she turned her back to me and leaned into my partner to explain them only to him. It made us both very uncomfortable and was quite unprofessional. She was working quite hard on my partner for a tip. I understand the old chivlarous ways of the man ordering which is common in Charleston but to only speak to the man is just plain rude. A lesson in basic communications for this wait staff member would be required if she were to keep her employment with me. A word to the managment and the wait staff when a customer comes into your turf they are guests and should all be treated with respect and a smile. Your role as a server is pivotal you can make or break the experience. The food may be amazing but if you miss the mark on service, you may have lost a long term customer. This was the first time that I have ever left just a $1 tip for service. However when the money is coming out of my wallet I would appreciate being spoken to not just my spouse.

I can't help myself on this one. I am fixated on just a couple of the menu items, most of them from the happy hour menu. The happy hour oysters on the half are a bargain and some of the best to be had in Charleston. The iceberg wedge salad makes a great addition to the the oysters and of course a martini during happy hour doesn't hurt the experience. Great oysters, nice salad and a tasty martini for under $20 during happy hour makes this my place when I need an oyster fix (at least once a week). They have an expanded menu if you need more than the happy hours items. Service is topnotch and the small but friendly bar is the perfect drop in place. Parking can be a challenge but worth the hunt. See you there.

Had a great meal tonight. Oysters and shrimp were great. Wait staff was very attentive. There was always somebody checking on me. Will definitely be back.

Pearz is always a treat for a seafood lover like me. Fantastic customer service, fantastic food, very reasonable prices. On my last visit I ordered a double dozen of house raw oysters. Yup 24 raw oysters. Hey, in my defense I live in Colorado, thousands of miles away from the ocean. Good seafood is hard to come by. As always, the oysters were fresh, shucked well and the sauces that came with oysters were spot on. Oyster shooters are my second favorite. The first time I did an oyster shooter I knew I was hooked for life. Peel and shrimp are my next favorite dish. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Charleston, as I will surely visit Pearlz again.

No reservations so you need to make sure you get here early since weekends they get packed. There's parking in the back and it fills up quick. All my friends eat so seafood except me. So when I get shot here I have to be careful since they are always trying to do Oyster Shooters. Great daily seafood varieties from fresh fish, crabs and of course shellfish. Some seafood restaurants are overwhelming when you walk in this place not so much.

Really just ok. First of all the kids meal includes house made chips. Half of them came out burned and the seasoning is something that my picky child was having nothing of. Our hot crap dip appetizer was good and they quickly brought us a second serving of pita bread to go with it when we finished the first round. I had the salmon (one of the catch of the day options), grilled with teriyaki sauce. The salmon was a little bit dry and the sauce was so sweet I couldn't stand it. My husband was trying to decide between a few dishes and was sold on the fish and chips as a nice "large entree," lucky for him I didn't eat more than 1/3 of my salmon because his dish left him still hungry so he finished mine. I was also a bit disappointed with the sangria I ordered when it came completely full of ice in a normal sized white wine glass (I was expecting a nice large drink like many other places serve). The service was good though, everyone was attentive and our food came out quickly. While it wasn't terrible overall having spent $80 on this meal, we were less than satisfied.

We couldn't have asked for a better place for dinner. We started off with a dozen steamed oysters. They came with melted butter and house cocktail. Perfection! Would have order another dozen if we had saved room after dinner. I had the pimento cheese shrimp and grits with tomato relish. Very tasty and the shrimp were jumbo. He had the fried shrimp with corn fritters and cole slaw. Out of the two, the shrimp and grits were the way to go. Our wonderful server mentioned that the shrimp and grits change flavor almost nightly, so be on the lookout for new creations. The table next to us got the gumbo, looked very tasty also. Would highly recommend coming here!!!

I don't go here very often and I'm not sure why because it's always great! The first time I hesitantly had the New England clam chowder (I'm from New England) and it was perfect. Next time, oyster shooters and burger..: DELISH. Next time? One of the bartenders who's name I can't remember (sorry!) who is always so awesome, guided my father in from the pearlz downtown. What a guy! I'm totally into the atmosphere too.

While visiting Charleston with my mom, we were determined to find a raw bar, and Pearlz definitely answered the call! Amazing house oysters at a good price! Perfect size, schucked beautifully, just delicious. The oyster shooters were equally amazing, with just the right amount of spice! I got the tuna sandwich, which was out of this world-cooked perfectly, great seaweed salad and my mom got the fish and chips, which she also loved. Their house chips are crunchy and seasoned well - and they dip perfectly in their wasabi creme! Our server, Chelsea, was amazing as well! Well done Pearlz!

This place deserves 5 stars due to their great service, the corn fritters, and the tuna tartare. Let me explain. We stopped in for an early dinner to find out that it was happy hour. Yay! We started off with the corn fritters and decided to get the seafood plateau. I wasn't too sure we were going to be satisfied with the amount of food but god was I wrong.. First off, the corn fritters came out HOT and covered in powdered sugar. They're crunchy and soft and pillowy on the inside however there isn't a whole lot of corn in there. We didnn't finish them since our plateau arrived and we needed to focus on that. Oysters, peel and eat shrimp, crab dip, tuna tartare, shrimp ceviche, clams, a lobster, and giant handfuls of mussels were presented to us and we went to TOWN. Like, polished off 95% of it between the two of us. Afterwards, I was crying because I was sad that it was gone and because I was so full that it hurt. The tuna tartare and ceviche were the two winners on the plate for me, as well as one of the oysters that they had gotten in from the west coast. Highly recommend this!! But maybe split it between more than 2 people... hahah. While we were eating, a weird leak from the ceiling splashed onto our table. A server saw it, immediately cleaned it up, and got us new drinks and refilled our corn fritters for us, in case they had been contaminated by the leak. What!!!!!!! I was so happy that even though I was so full, I stuffed another fresh corn fritter in my mouth out of excitement. So, thank you Pearlz! You guys are awesome.

Pearlz is good at everything but (big surprise) the oysters are really top notch! If you come here and don't order oysters, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! If you're not an oyster fan, you can still enjoy some awesome food like their shrimp and grits, farmers market salad, burgers, and more. I had to give 4/5 because they over cooked our burger a little and I don't love the mahi tacos. If you're looking for a nice, very casual restaurant with Charleston staples and a nice ambiance, Pearlz can fit the bill.

This place has a Fangtasia vibe minus the fang bangers, glitter, synthetic blood cocktails....okay I guess it is not very Fangtasia like at all. But as soon as I stopped in, I thought this might be the top of drinking hole that Sookie and her crew might stop at if they were craving a cold brew and a bi-valve and they weren't busy slaying (or saving) vampires. It's dark, a bit divey and quiet but they have some great Abita brews and fresh, delicious Gulf Coast Oysters for you to munch on. The service was friendly. It's a little bit off the beaten path but well worth a stop in if you are in West Ashley, South Carolina.

(3)Lauren P.
(5)Christy M.

(4)Alex G.

(3)P R.

(5)Steve V.
(5)Jen R.
(5)Dave C.
(5)Mel G.
(5)michael w.
Best place is West Ashley for happy hour! Food is delicious and oysters are very fresh. Free valet Parking and only a few minutes from Play Garden (hourly kids play location that is a must) make this a perfect location for a parents date night!
(5)Mariia B.
Great food, staff and location. Truly enjoyed our dinner! She cab soup and buffalo ribs were amazing!
(5)Allie E.
(3)Jeff W.
Sat at bar to eat ... Pretty Good food but indifferent service - kinda rude and not very attentive Mixed up order wth no remorse and never owned up to it I'm sure owner would be appaled
(2)Elise M.
Hands down my favorite place in Charleston. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious & the scene is perfect. Highly recommend! I've never had a bad meal or poor service. Their oysters are the freshest and I swear some are as big as chicken breasts!
(5)Bill H.
(5)Kristie S.
Excellent service and food. The oysters were fresh and not overpriced.
(4)Meaghan B.
(2)AL K.
(4)Will S.
(5)Deb W.
Has become my favorite Happy Hour ever!!! As soon as we get in there we order 2 oyster shooters, an order of oysters on 1/2 shell and an order of fried oysters. What a great way to end a tough work week! Great drinks! Great food! Great value!
(5)Greg M.
Outstanding Meal!! Mixed grill with Samon, Grouper, Swordfish & Mahi. Peel & eat jumbo shrimp. Top notch cheesecake. Flawless preparation.
(5)Jessica Z.
This is our first time in this restaurant. My husband and I are pleasantly surprised by the nice environment and the quality of services and food. The server remembers everything you say and try their best to make you happy. The blackened salmon is cooked just right on top of grilled asparagus and Brussels sprouts. Awesome place!
(5)Lynzi P.
The best happy hour, I loved the bartenders also! Very personable. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Kristen F.
I tried Pearlz last night for the first time. Overall, the food was very good. I had the clam chowder and specialty shrimp n grits. Both very good and I would get again. My husband had oysters rockefeller and tuna and he too enjoyed it. They also have these delectable little corn fritters that taste like funnel cake with corn- so wrong but soo darn good. My only negative was timing; that was a fail. Our server was great and she was friendly and knowledgeable. My only disappointment was the food all came out on top of each other. I HATE that. I wanted to finish my soup before my entrée (shrimp) sat beside me cooling off. Plus, it was our 10 year anniversary and the place was not busy so I wanted to take my time and enjoy the evening. Lesson learned- I would come back but next time order mains AFTER aps are finished because the kitchen is quick- which is good! ..
(4)Bem H.
(4)Jeremy F.
Pearlz has become a regular landing spot during our visits to Charleston. Awesome service, great happy hour specials and the oysters, well shoot, they're outstanding! Can't wait to visit again!
(4)Liz L.
(4)Susi R.
First time eating here. Sat at bar. Great lively scene, beyond excellent service and fantastic food. The bartenders and staff are poetry in motion! Fun place. Will definitely go back, and back!
(5)Sip C.
(5)Colin M.
Went for Happy Hour while visiting Charleston and had a great time.. Can't beat the prices for happy hour or the friendliness by the bartenders. Oysters were fresh and amazing, so was the peel and eat shrimp.. Definitely sit at the bar and enjoy the show!
(5)Sydney G.
(4)Scott S.
We had steamed oysters, grilled swordfish, and mussels. It was all fantastic! Some of the attentive service I've had.
(5)Ryan H.

(4)Shawn L.
A great place to get oysters and drinks. The oysters were fresh, large and reasonably priced and the service was excellent.
(4)C W.

(4)John P.
Great service, large enough portions. My wife and i shared a large plate, while each getting an appetizer. Perfect meal. The mixed grill plate was fantastic! Service was attentive yet casual.
(5)Anthony H.

(5)tom j.

(4)Michael F.

(5)Colleen J.
Four stars because I'm not so much of a fan of their service, BUT they have an awesome happy hour menu! Also, I know it might be hard to believe, but Pearlz has a delicious burger. I highly recommend it.
(4)Nick L.
The service was excellent (we sat at the bar) and the food was delicious. I had a tuna taco and it was very fresh with a great char-grilled flavor. Steamed oysters were tasty and the oyster shooter was the best one I've had on this trip. Highly recommend the seafood cobb salad.
(4)J F.
(3)Christine F.

(3)Phillip D.

Friendly staff and Great Happy Hour Menu! Love their Happy Hour Menu & Quaint Patio!
(4)Juli P.
Great food & excellent service. My only negative is the parking situation. As in there is none! Park in the bank next door if you go after six.
(4)Holly J.

Great food and a cozy spot for Sunday afternoon lunch.

(5)Lana S.
(5)Harold W.
(4)Sarah L.

(5)Christine B.
(4)Julie P.
(5)Laura L.
(5)Ginny L.
(4)Kimberly S.
(4)Steve S.
Food was amazing! The tuna tar tar and calamari were fresh and delish. Also great service!
